Aston Villa fans want to see Ollie Watkins handed an England call up after Liverpool full-back Trent Alexander-Arnold was ruled out of Euro 2020.
Watkins was one of three Villa players Gareth Southgate named in his provisional 33-man squad for this summer’s tournament along with Jack Grealish and Tyrone Mings.
Watkins pipped the likes of Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford, Southampton forward Danny Ings and Chelsea’s Tammy Abraham to a call up to the provisional squad having enjoyed a brilliant debut season in the Premier League.
The 25-year-old netted 14 goals in 37 games for Villa and marked his first England appearance with a goal against San Marino in March.
But while Grealish and Mings were named in the final 26-man squad for the upcoming tournament, Watkins didn’t make the cut.
Southgate opted to pick Harry Kane and Dominic Calvert-Lewin as his frontline strikers, while Marcus Rashford is also an option in the position.
But there is now a space in the squad ahead of England’s opener against Croatia on June 13 after it was confirmed Alexander-Arnold will miss the Euros.
The Liverpool defender picked up a thigh injury in Wednesday’s friendly victory against Austria, a game in which Watkins, Grealish and Mings all featured.
The 22-year-old is expected to be sidelined for around six weeks and will return to Liverpool for rehabilitation.

Southgate will name a replacement after Sunday’s friendly against Romania and Villa fans think it should be Watkins who gets the nod.
One supporter on social media said: “Call up Ollie Watkins!”
“Sad news for Trent, must be gutted,” added another. “On the positive side if ever we could hand pick a position to hav an injury from, that would be the one. One of the lads is probably cancelling a holiday as we speak and repacking their bags…hope it’s our Ollie Watkins.”
A third wrote: “Bring back Watkins!”
“If there’s one position we could afford to pick up an injury, this was it,” said another. “It’s a real shame for TAA and England – but his time will certainly come again. I’d be looking to bring Watkins in, as he’s the only centre forward in the squad that offers something different to Kane.”
While a fifth added: “Please do the right thing and call up Watkins.”
