Confusion surrounds an update on the Government Covid guidance website which has advised people to avoid travelling in and out of Leicester because it says the city is one of eight areas where the Indian strain of coronavirus is spreading fastest.
The Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) has said people should only cross the city boundaries if it is essential to do so for work or education purposes.
The guidance on restrictions to stop the spread of Covid-19 was updated on the DHSC website Friday afternoon but without a wider announcement.
Questions are now being asked around the new guidance and the fact that 8,000 fans were at the King Power stadium on Sunday to watch Leicester City play Spurs in the final Premier League game of the season.
Shoppers packed out the city centre over the weekend, while restaurants and bars were booked up on the first weekend of indoor dining since restrictions were relaxed.
LeicestershireLive has and is putting questions about the update to DHSC, local authorities and others. If there’s something you want to know tweet @leicslive or email email@example.com.
Updates, reaction and information will appear below as we get it.
