A former Lidl supermarket in Hinckley could be converted into three business units, including a 24-hour gym and a vehicle MOT and service centre.
The large store, on the corner of Hawley Road and Rugby Road, has been vacant since August 2019, when the shop relocated to newly-built premises in Coventry Road.
Now plans have emerged for The Gym and Formula One Autocentres to both open branches there, while the other unit would be for retail use.
Proposals have already been approved to insert new glazed shopfronts to divide the three units, and for 24-hour opening hours for the gym.
Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council will decide next week on an application for a change of use for the proposed autocentre, including the removal of a loading dock area and ramp.
A planning statement filed by Beauford Commercial said: “The proposed use of Unit 3 as a vehicle autocentre will provide a use which is complementary to the other facilities in the town centre, attracts and is used by visiting members of the public and will assist in bringing this long-term vacant premises back into beneficial use.”
The latest application also includes a reconfiguration of the car park, which would serve the three units, with the changes to add another parking space and bring the total number of spaces up to 80.
The reconfiguration is needed to the north of the site to allow for changes to the Rugby Road and Hawley Road junction, as part of a £5 million road improvement project from Leicestershire County Council.

Planners hope to improve traffic flow on Rugby Road by amending its design at two key junctions, with Hawley Road and with Brookside in Burbage.
The scheme has been twice delayed, including because of the impact of the coronavirus restrictions, with works originally set to finish in summer 2019.
The project will include other transport upgrades in Hinckley, with pedestrian and cycling improvements at Granville Road, Spa Lane, London Road and Coventry Road.
A new parking zone for residents will also be created and there will be a review of town centre parking facilities.
