Coventry City fans have had their say on who has been the club’s top performers this season.
We asked supporters to grade the Sky Blues players out of ten for their overall player ratings for the campaign.
And, not surprisingly, City’s standout player of the season, Callum O’Hare, topped the charts to back up his clean sweep in the end of year awards.
The attacking midfielder scored an average rating of 8.5, with another big fan favourite, Leo Ostigard, the only other player to come close to him with 8.25.
O’Hare was, according to the 1,000 readers and fans who took part, City’s highest rating midfielder ahead of Leicester City loan star Matty James (7.82) who just edged out skipper Liam Kelly (7.69), while Gus Hamer was ranked just below on 7.41 – a score that might well have been higher had the Dutch/Brazilian’s form not tailed off towards the end of the season.
Unsurprisingly, Arsenal loan midfielder Ben Sheaf (4.86), Jamie Allen (4.81) and Jordan Shipley (5.82) were lower in the rankings due to their limited game time and form, albeit Shipley’s score will have been boosted by his impressive late contribution in the last few games when he scored goals against Huddersfield and Millwall
Interestingly, there was nothing to choose between Kyle McFadzean and Dom Hyam at the back, both scoring an average ratings of 7.15, while fellow centre-halves Michael Rose and Josh Pask scored 5.57 and 5.54 respectively, reflecting their limited input to City’s first season back in the second tier.
The goalkeeper situation appears to continue to divide supporters’ opinion with Ben Wilson (6.05), who has just been handed a new contract extension, getting the better of Marko Marosi (5.58) despite the latter having started the season as Mark Robins’s first choice.
As for the sharp end, the ever popular Max Biamou scored the highest with an average rating of 6.91, just ahead of on loan Brighton front man Viktor Gyokeres who had a strong end to the campaign.
Both beat the injury plagued Matty Godden (6.31) and former Forest man Tyler Walker (6.30), despite the latter finishing as the club’s leading scorer on eight goals (seven in the league).
