Coventry City’s first big end of season gong has been awarded, giving a clear indication of the front runners for the club’s official Player of the Year honour.
Long established and respected fans’ group, Coventry City London Supporters Club, have voted for their standout performer of the Sky Blues campaign.
In its 44th consecutive year, this season’s CCLSC Player of the Season award goes to the star of this weekend’s sensational 6-1 victory over Millwall – attacking midfielder Callum O’Hare.
The 23-year-old ran the Lions ragged, setting one goal up and scoring another as Mark Robins’s men ended their Championship campaign on a high.
O’Hare received 10 man of the match awards in total by the supporters club members over 48 games in all competitions.
London Supporters Club spokesman Ian Davidson said: “It is, in our opinion, a truly unique award as it captures votes from members for every match they attend or watch live on TV throughout the season.
“This season many members and several Sky Blues International (SBI) members voted after watching on iFollow. Each member is entitled to vote for their top three players in each match they attended or watched live on TV.
“There were 29 different players who received votes throughout the season.
“Callum O’Hare, incredibly, received votes in 42 different matches during the season.”
He added: “Runner up Gus Hamer pushed him for the top spot, especially in the first half of the season, while Leo Ostigard and Kyle McFadzean finished third and fourth in the voting.
“Callum now joins an illustrious group of midfield stars who have won this coveted award.
“Past winners of the CCLSC Player of the Season include the likes of Tommy Hutchison, Gary McAllister, and more recently midfield favourites, Carl Baker, Jim O’Brien, Gael Bigirimana, Michael Doyle and Liam Kelly.”
