It’s that time of year when Coventry City supporters start to ponder the possibilities for next season’s new strip.

Manager Mark Robins and the players, meanwhile, have got their total focus on keeping the Sky Blues in the Championship in the last seven crucial games of the season.

The return to the Ricoh Arena adds to the carrot of staying in the division and a triumphant home-coming back in the city that bears the club’s name.

We can all imagine skipper Liam Kelly leading he team out for that first game of the 2021/22 season, but what will his kit look like?

Here, local graphic designer and life-long Sky Blues fan Paul Kitchen has come up with some cracking designs to whet your appetite as to what the club could come up with next season.

Sky Blues Leo on big summer decision

Coventry City loan star Leo Ostigard admits he faces a big summer that could change the course of his career.

The 21-year-old, who has this year stepped up to the senior Norwegian squad, is out of contract at his parent Premier League club Brighton and Hove Albion at the end of the season.

The Seagulls have an option of another year which they are likely to trigger to safeguard their investment, having signed the centre-half from Molde for an undisclosed fee back in 2018.

But whether the determined defender stays at the Falmer Stadium remains to be seen, the player forthright in his view that he needs to be playing regular first team football rather than a bit-part player from the bench.

The case for Fadz’s defence

I find it strange that Kyle McFadzean has come in for so much criticism in the wake of Easter Monday’s glaring error which led to a nervous few minutes before Viktor Gyokeres sparked a collective sigh of relief among Coventry City’s followers.

The experienced Sky Blues defender was back in the side after sitting out two games – an extremely unfortunate consequence of the unjust handball decision at Luton when he had the mucky imprint on his shirt sleeve as hard evidence of his innocence.

But it seems that Fadz has become the latest scapegoat in some quarters, as Max Biamou was just a short few weeks ago when he missed a string of sitters at the other end.

The defender is in the spotlight because his latest misdemeanour comes on top of a number of on pitch indiscretions since joining the club the summer before last.

Sky Blues season tickets hit ten year high

There are just under a 1,000 Coventry City Memberships and ‘Season Tickets’ left for the club’s big return to the Ricoh Arena.

The Sky Blues have topped the 7,000 mark for their initial Covid restricted allocation, which is more than the number of season tickets sold for the last time Mark Robins’s men played at their home stadium in 2018/19.

When City last played in Coventry the club sold 6,870 season tickets – with this total including all types of Season Tickets, Half Season Tickets and Premium Memberships.

The latest Ricoh Return Membership and Season Ticket is on general sale now and with the capacity of the Membership capped at 8,000, fans are encouraged to buy as soon as possible to secure their place for the 2021/22 campaign.

Blues’ boss Bowyer asks big question of rivals

Lee Bowyer guided Birmingham City to another valuable point to ensure they remain firmly glued to Coventry City’s Championship coat tails.

The Blues manager has made a real impact since taking over from Aitor Karanka, with his new boss bounce producing two wins and a draw from his first four games in charge of the Sky Blues ’ landlords.

St Andrew’s victories over Reading and Swansea, and Tuesday night’s point at Brentford – all top six sides – show that Blues have plenty of fight.
