A new Home Bargains store in Coventry is set to open its doors this weekend.
The popular discount retailer has set up shop on Cross Point Business Park in Walsgrave, with customers being welcomed into the store from 8am on Saturday, March 13.
It has replaced the once popular Toys R Us, which was demolished last year and is the second Home Bargains in the city, with the other located in Sherbourne Arcade.
It has an on-site cafe, serving hot and cold refreshments and its own bakery, serving a delicious range of fresh bread, pastries and cakes.
These are alongside the usual items at Home Bargains, including homeware, health and beauty essentials and other foods.
The new store will create 127 new jobs for the community, with a total of 140 staff, some of whom have transferred from elsewhere.

Wajeeha Mohi-uddin, the new Coventry store manager, said: “It’s a huge honour to be opening our new Coventry store this weekend and something that I’m exceptionally proud of.
“Having worked for Home Bargains for just over six-and-a-half years, starting out as a supervisor at our Beacon Retail Park store, this is certainly a special moment and one I’ll cherish for the rest of my career.
“Cross Point Business Park will be a great location for us and we’re proud to be able to offer local people top-branded goods at exceptionally low prices.”
The business has invested £9 million into this Coventry branch, and will be donating £2,000 to charity Coventry Cyrenians.
They provide individualised support to promote and enhance the life chances of people in Coventry and Warwickshire who are homeless, or at risk of homelessness, and empower them to live as independently as possible.
Jack Swinburn, fundraising and partnerships manager at Coventry Cyrenians, said: “Like most charities, we are facing challenging circumstances in the current climate and donations such as this help to ensure we can continue to provide our services to the homeless and vulnerably housed of Coventry and Warwickshire.
“We’d like to thank Home Bargains and the employee who chose our cause as the beneficiary of this donation. We wish them the best of luck with their new Coventry store.”
