Dr Hilary has told Lorraine Kelly the one date in the roadmap which concerns him during today’s instalment of the ITV show.
Dr Hilary said on today’s ITV Lorraine: “Two weeks after March 8, on March 29, is the second part of step one. This means the rule of six. Two can socialise outdoors from March 8, for a picnic, a coffee, or whatever.
“But from March 29 it is the rule of 6. Two households can meet outside also. Two whole households of any number or the rule of 6 – six people from different households. Now, this worries me a bit. But this is my own personal worry.”
Lorraine asked: “Is that because it would be six different people from six different homes? It is about being sensible.”
Dr Hilary replied: “Yes absolutely. It is about being sensible.”
Dr Hilary then went on to flesh out the steps on April 12, May 17 and June 21.
On April 12, pubs and restaurants will be permitted to reopen outside with customers allowed to enter beer gardens or sit at outdoor tables.
The rule of six or two households applies. April 12 also marks the date hairdressers can reopen, alongside the likes of gyms and non-essential retailers and shops.
On May 17, you can expect pubs, restaurants and bars – as well as hotel bars – to reopen indoors, with weddings expanded to 30 guests.
Arenas will also reopen. June 21 marks the date for the end of all curbs and restrictions on meetings and events, with life seemingly back to normal.
