Aldi selling beer meant for pubs for just 99p

Aldi has purchased around 25,000 gallons of beer intended for pubs – and ale fans in Coventry and Warwickshire can now buy it from them at cheep prices.

The budget giant’s shrewd move saves the booze from going to waste by directly buying it from breweries reports The Star.

Pubs are currently closed and will stay that way for the foreseeable future, meaning those who enjoy a tipple can only do so from home, and now shoppers will be able to pick up some quality beers for less than a quid while doing their shop.

Aldi’s latest Specialbuys deal will go on sale from today (January 28), and you can pick up some real bargains.

Spitfire Gold will be cheapest, priced at just 99p for a 500ml bottle – 25p a bottle cheaper than as rivals Asda and 75p cheaper than Morrisons.

There’ll be 10 more beers priced at £1.49, including Shelby from Thornbridge, Snake Oil from West Berkshire Brewery and Old Hooky from Hook Norton Brewery.

Tangle Foot and Warsteiner are also being sold at an affordable price.

You can get a four-pack of the former for £3.99, while a 12-pack of the latter will retail for £8.99.

Sadly, the offer isn’t available online so you’ll have to venture into Aldi to get hold of the bargain beer.

Julie Ashfield, managing director of buying at Aldi UK, said: “Lots of our favourite local breweries have been hugely affected by the pandemic.

“As part of our commitment to supporting British suppliers, we’ve found a way to stock great quality and award-winning beers.”
