Prime Minister Boris Johnson will host the coronavirus press conference from Downing Street later today.
The briefing is expected to take place around 5pm.
The PM has already confirmed schools will not be going back until March 8 at the earliest today.
Addressing the House of Commons earlier, he said re-opening schools was a top priority but more evidence was needed that nfection rates, and deaths, were falling enough to send children back.
Tougher quarantine measures are one of the things the Downing Street press conference is expected to address tonight.
Mr Johnson, answering questions in the House of Commons, told MPs that Home Secretary Priti Patel would set out tougher quarantine measures later on Wednesday afternoon for “red list countries where we have particular concern about new variants”.
Yesterday’s press conference saw the PM express his condolences to those who have lost a loved one because of coronavirus.
The UK’s death toll from coronavirus yesterday exceeded 100,000 people – though separate data published by statistics agencies places the toll at 115,000.
Mr Johnson said in yesterday’s press conference: “I think on this day I should just really repeat that I am deeply sorry for every life that has been lost and of course as I was Prime Minister I take full responsibility for everything that the Government has done.”
