St Etienne’s shareholders have reportedly made their frustration clear over Wesley Fofana’s move to Leicester City by regretting that Islam Slimani was not included in the deal.
Fofana moved to the Foxes for £30m back in October with the defender quickly proving he was one of the best transfer deals in the Premier League by producing a string of impressive performances.
But it has now emerged from ButFootballClub that the deal has caused frustration behind the scenes with the shareholders having felt that by not demanding Slimani as a makeweight was a mistake.
Their Ligue One rivals Lyon now look to clinch the move of Slimani who had been of interest to St Etienne but it was reported that they would have to sell before they could buy.
But now St Etienne believe they should have asked for Slimani as part of the Fofana deal and it is believed to have contributed to the departure of their ex-general director Xavier Thuilot.
Slimani now looks set to clinch his move to Lyon in the next 48 hours with the Ligue One club having been eager to wrap up a deal for the forward who has fallen well down the pecking order at the King Power Stadium.

Journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has claimed that Slimani will take a further step towards leaving Brendan Rodgers’ side when he undergoes a medical on Tuesday.
Lyon’s interest has been confirmed by director of football Juninho who looks to have fended off plenty of competition for the striker’s services.
“It is not easy to find a striker who agrees to come and play for 6 months,” he told Le Progres .
“At the start of the season, I spoke with Slimani and we reached an agreement. He wants to come to us but there is nothing done yet.”
