The high street is the place to be as far as Primark is concerned – a position that the firm has emphatically stressed again and again in recent years.

But the introduction of the UK’s third national lockdown, last week, has sparked further calls for the budget retailer to bring in online shopping for its army of customers.

It has, so far however, refused to be drawn on the matter.

The company was forced to close the doors of its stores in Leicester city centre, Fosse Park and Loughborough due to a sharp rise in coronavirus infection rates in the city and county, as with the rest of England.

As a non essential retailer, Primark is unable to open to the public and, as it is one of the only brands in the UK without an online store, it means people won’t be able to get their fashion fix until shops reopen – writes the Manchester Evening News.

Now Primark has issued an update on any plans to offer online shopping.

Posting on Twitter, Primark wrote: “If you could choose, what would be your dream Primark collab for 2021? “

Shoppers were quick to comment, with many making their own suggestions.

But there appeared to be one request which outweighed the rest – an online store.

As a result of the UK’s third national lockdown, high street giant Primark has once again been forced to close its doors to shoppers.

As a non essential retailer, Primark is unable to open to the public, and as it is one of the only brands in the UK without an online store, it means people won’t be able to get their fashion fix until shops reopen.

Now Primark has issued an update on any plans to offer online shopping.

Posting on Twitter, Primark wrote: “If you could choose, what would be your dream Primark collab for 2021?”

Shoppers were quick to comment, with many making their own collab suggestions.

But there appeared to be one request which outweighed the rest – an online store.

Responding, one person said: “How about online shopping like the rest of the world. Why are do you still refuse to do this. Shops are closed so everyone goes online you are losing out.”

Primark then replied with a huge blow to online shopping hopefuls, writing: “We will pass your suggestion on, but we have to tell you David, an online store is not in our plans!”

Another shopper said: “Primark X online shopping so my high risk disabled 23 year old can shop without leaving the house, she’s been in once with her Dad, she needed to & said it felt safe but I think we’d all like if she could just order online, she only shops at Primark or Little Mix’s merch website.”

Primark responded: “Hi Amanda, it is not in our plans unfortunately. Stay safe.”

“Please make your clothes available online!!!” demanded somebody else.

Primark came back: “Hi Jack, we don’t offer online shopping, but we thank you your suggestion!”

When asked why they won’t open up an online store, Primark told one Twitter user: “Our amazing prices would not be anymore.”

We can live in hope.
