Going vegan might sound like you have to up all your favourite foods, but if you’re clued up it’s easier than you might think.

This month many people might be trying Veganuary, where an omnivore or vegetarian tries the vegan diet for a month.

A vegan diet certainly doesn’t have to consist solely of fruit and vegetables, there are plenty of sweet and savoury treats you wouldn’t think were vegan-friendly.

Many products on supermarket shelves are unintentionally vegan, meaning you can still indulge in many of the foods your enjoyed before making the transition.

Please be sure to double-check the ingredients before purchasing anything on this list as ingredients lists are subject to change.

1. HP Brown Sauce

HP Sauce

No fry-up would be complete without a decent dollop of brown sauce and its good news if you’re vegan, because the stuff is 100% dairy and egg-free.

2. Smash

The instant mash is vegan-friendly, so good news for vegans who want to make their dinner in a flash.

Be warned, some branches are trialling Belgian buns which are no longer vegan.

4. Skittles

Sometimes vegans needs their sugar fix from something other than a banana.

Thought your doughnut days were over? Wrong.

You even have a choice of either a jam or custard filling.

Finding pastries that are suitable for vegans is no longer challenging.
