“Sign the contract, big boy” – that is the message from Tyson Fury to Anthony Joshua on Good Morning Britain today.
The heavyweight champion issued an ultimatum to AJ during a GMB chat on Monday after Joshua defeated Kubrat Puvel on Saturday night.
“It was but no disrespect to Pulev – he is 39 years old and he has not had a competitive fight since 2014,” said Fury.
“He has not been boxing regularly against high profile opposition. At 40 years old, he is ready for his slippers anyway.”
Fury said: “It is easier said than done. When I was fighting Wilder I had lost 10 stone in eight months.
“After three years inactivity. Yes, he shook me in round 12. But a few months later it was just a mismatch.
“Wilder did not win any second of the rematch. That is the Fury that Joshua will have to face.”
Piers said: “You destroyed Wilder. There is some word that Joshua has to contractually do a fight first…”
Fury said: “That is not accurate. It is the biggest fight since Foreman vs Ali. If a belt has to be vacated, I am sure it will happen.
“I am willing. I think he is willing. Let us do it and confirm the biggest fight in history.”
On the SPOTY shortlist, Fury said: “I do not need any awards. I know who I am. I know what I have done. I do not need a pat on the back or a glass trophy.
“I see everybody clamouring to get on that list. I do not need gratitude – the love of the people is worth more than anything.”
“Have they taken you off the list?” asked Piers.
Fury responded: “I have had my lawyers send them a letter demanding they take me off the list.”
GMB continues each weekday at 6am.
