Thorn Baker Industrial Recruitment has taken larger office space in Charles Street, Leicester city centre, to help further grow the business.
The company has experienced steady growth since it opened its first Leicester office in 2018 and has now completed a relocation which was initially planned for March 2020 but delayed as a result of Covid-19.
Despite having to wait for the office move, the pandemic has resulted in increased demand for Thorn Baker’s specialised industrial recruitment services.
A key factor in this has been changing consumer shopping habits where a significant move to online retail has precipitated a strong demand for logistics, warehousing and manufacturing roles.
Additionally, Thorn Baker has many clients who are associated with key sectors which have also seen an upturn in staffing requirements.
With Christmas on the horizon, the company is also benefiting from the number of more traditional positions to fill as part of its clients’ seasonal recruitment drives.
The business has its head office in Nottingham and branches in Birmingham, Bristol, Chesterfield, Essex, Leeds, Leicester and Loughborough.
Simon Gimson, Thorn Baker’s Leicester branch manager said: “Our new office is perfect for our requirements both now and in the future as the business continues to grow.
“The increased space facilitates social distancing which is important when signing up new candidates and for the protection of our staff.
“Our great city centre location means we are easy for people to reach which will further benefit the business.
“Despite reports of job shortages, which is true for some sectors, we have a range of clients who are looking for reliable workers to fill their vacant positions. I would encourage anyone looking for work to get in touch.”
To meet the increased business, Thorn Baker has made a new appointment to its Leicester team.
Harry Pickering has joined as labour manager, bringing with him a background in recruitment and hospitality and a wealth of knowledge in customer care.
He will play an important role in client registrations and in supporting Simon and senior account manager Ewelina Wojtkiewicz.
Harry said: “The next few months promise to be extremely busy for me as we support our clients over the busy Christmas period and beyond.
“I am really looking forward to playing my role in helping the further development of Thorn Baker Industrial through its Leicester office.
“It’s a great base from which we can emerge strongly positioned for even more success in the post Covid-19 world.”
