A hole has been left in the side of a house after a car crashed into it.

The crash happened off the B4455 Fosse Way in Stretton-on-Dunsmore yesterday, Sunday, December 6.

OPU Warwickshire shared details of the incident, as well as a number of other shocking incidents, including a driver travelling at more than 100mph in a 40mph zone.

Police said it took that driver more than a mile to stop the vehicle as he “didn’t realise police were following him”.

In the incident on Fosse Way, a spokesman for the OPU Warwickshire team said the driver’s Jaguar hit a tree at the crossroads and then crashed into the house.

The man, who was on his way to work at the time, suffered minor injuries.

In other incidents covered by the team over the weekend:

  • A Mercedes was seized near Ryton-on-Dunsmore because the driver – who had been permanently residing in the UK for more than a year – had not registered the vehicle. Police said this means the car won’t have had an MOT and the driver wasn’t paying road tax.
  • An Audi was stopped near Tollbar as it tried to evade police, doing laps of the A45/A423. The driver had no insurance and it was also confirmed that two of the occupants were in the UK illegally. They were arrested and taken into custody.
  • A Focus was spotted driving on the A46 near Leamington into Coventry, travelling at more than 100mph including through the 40mph limit on the approach to Whitley roundabout. Police said it took almost a mile for the driver to pull over, and he later said he “didn’t realise” police were following him. An OPU Warwickshire spokesman added: “The driver claimed to hold a foreign driving licence but was unable to produce this. To top it off, all four tyres were below the legal tread limit. We’ve seized the vehicle and reported the driver to court.”
