There’s been much excitement surrounding the launch of Leicester’s new Jollibee restaurant – and it’s almost time for the city centre eatery to welcome its first customers.
Jollibee in Humberstone Gate will launch tomorrow, November 20, but we were invited in early, to bring you an exclusive sneak peek inside.
The restaurant, which is initially opening for takeaways only, is based in the Humberstone Gate unit formerly occupied by Select Fashion.
It’s been transformed into a bright, smart-looking restaurant, which features what the chain reckons is the largest graffiti mural in Leicester.
It is only the third Jollibee restaurant in the UK, and the first in the Midlands.
The brand – which has more than 1,000 restaurants worldwide – describes its food as “a joyous mashup of Western comfort food served with a Southeast Asian twist.”
It is known for menu items such as Chickenjoy – Jollibee’s signature dish – served up extra crispy on the outside and marinated to be extra juicy on the inside. Another popular dish is the Jolly Spaghetti, a sweet style spaghetti with Jollibee’s signature sauce topped with hotdog pieces and grated cheese.
Leicester customers will be able to try some of the latest dishes, including the Tropical Chicken Burger, Asian Slaw, Mango Coconut Sundae, Pineapple Juice and Asian Chicken Tender Rice Bowl.
The Leicester Jollibee is the first in the UK to sell all Halal meat.
Jollibee had thousands of people queuing for the opening of its first UK restaurant, in Earls Court, London, in October 2018.
It opened its second UK branch, in Liverpool, in September 2020 – which also attracted a huge queue of eager customers.
Talking about the launch of the new Leicester branch, Adam Parkinson, market head of Europe for Jollibee, said: “I am excited to be launching our third Jollibee in the UK, and the second in only the last two months.
It will give you regular email updates on the latest from restaurants and bars in Leicestershire.

“With its rich history as one of the oldest cities in England, and better known today for its cultural diversity, Premier League winning football team and great universities, Leicester was an obvious choice for us for our first midlands store.”
Jollibee plans to open restaurants in every city across the country over the next five years.
Its Leicester branch will be open from 10am until 10pm daily, from Friday, November 20.
