Aldi is something of a phenomenon in UK grocery retail.
Unlike other stores it doesn’t rely on multi-buy promotions or loyalty schemes to bring customers in.
Rather, the budget retailers concentrates on speed and efficiency to keep prices down at its supermarkets, which included branches across Coventry and Warwickshire,
One thing is does share in common with its more conventional rivals is the need to knock down prices further to shift stock on the cusp of going past its sell by date.
But even here the German grocer takes a different approach reports reports BirminghamLive
Indeed, customers have been left stunned after it emerged the cheap supermarket chain has a ‘secret bargain hour’.
During the 60 minute period, Aldi reduces its food by 50 per cent reports BirminghamLive
Now, we know what you’re thinking, right? You’re probably thinking that the best time to head to Aldi to find these half price bargains is at the end of the day.
But actually, it turns out it is not quite that simple.
Aldi – one of the most popular supermarkets in the country – has reduced prices at 7am across many stores.
Several shoppers have reported finding items with 50 per cent off labels at opening time.
It does vary from store to store, so you’re best contacting your local branch if you want to find out the best time to go to get your hands on stickered items.
Speaking about the reduction hour, a spokesperson for Aldi said: “All items are reduced to 50 per cent of the recommend sales price before stores open on their best before or use by dates.”
