Two workers have tested positive for Covid-19 at a Tamworth manufacturing business.

Simpson Strong-Tie, based at Cardinal Point in Winchester Road, Ventura Park, has confirmed the pair are self isolating as are a number of fellow staff who have been deemed as close contacts despite having no symptoms.

The company says it takes employees’ safety extremely serious and has implemented all the Government guidelines, including social distancing and use of PPE, working with Public Health England, and its staff have their full support.

A statement reads: “Over the weekend two employees tested positive for Covid-19. Also a number of employees, who do not have any symptoms, have been contacted by the NHS Track and Trace app and been asked to self isolate. The business is supporting them in doing so.

“The company has implemented all the safety guidelines, including social distancing and PPE that are required by the Government, in order for a manufacturing business in the construction sector to operate. This included working with Public Health England.

“We remain vigilant and supportive of our employees.”

Simpson Strong-Tie moved into its purpose-built home in Tamworth more than 20 years ago having previously been in Cannock up until 1998.

Its website says: “We continuously invest in research, product development and training to producing unique new fittings that meet new market needs and exceed the latest European requirements for construction products.
