Dean Smith spoke of Aston Villa’s “excitable” dressing room last night following their resounding victory over Arsenal.
A Bukayo Saka own-goal and an Ollie Watkins double put the Gunners to the sword which leaves Villa to within three points off top spot.
Villa were slick from the get-go at the Emirates and were back to their best, showing the very same form when they beat the likes of Liverpool and Leicester.
After their fifth win from seven Premier League games – while recording their third-successive away win without conceding – there’s little surprise then that Smith’s players were quick to share their happiness from a memorable night in north London.
There appears to be a real camaraderie amongst this lot too which is evident given the players’ social media posts and comments to each other.
Here’s how the Villa dressing room reacted after humbling Arsenal 3-0 which catapults them back to sixth place with a game in hand:
Jack Grealish: What a result!! Great team performance.
Ross Barkley: Back to winning ways. Brilliant all round team performance.

Speaking during his post-match press conference, Smith said of Sunday night’s win: “Personally, I felt it was good a performance when we beat Liverpool 7-2. Our work without the ball was the most pleasing part about it.
“I expect the likes of Trezeguet, Ross Barkley, Jack Grealish and Ollie Watkins to create things but we worked with the whole XI without the ball to restrict a good Arsenal team. It was extremely pleasing.”
