Midlands-born, award-winning packaging business Invopak has been shortlisted for three major awards.
The family firm has been nominated for Mid-Market Business of the Year, Employer of the Year, and Customer Experience & Loyalty. The awards ceremony will be taking place on Tuesday, November 10 and will take place virtually.
Previous winners include Hotel Chocolat, fitness sensation Joe Wicks, Timpson CEO James Timpson OBE, DPD UK, and the reminiscence newspaper Daily Sparkle for people with dementia.
Invopak is one of Britain’s leading suppliers of rigid plastic and metal packaging, supplying to over 4,000 manufacturing companies.
It operates out of a new depot in Southam, Warwickshire, and also further afield in Manchester, Glasgow, and Dublin. The company has multiple divisions including its e-commerce channel OiPPS, which services lower-volume companies and individual consumers worldwide online, and Manupak which caters for larger-volume, direct-to-customer business.
Invopak, which was established in 1974, has transformed over the last decade from a traditional family company in the Midlands into a fast-developing, nationwide supplier that is continually pushing forward in its sector.
Invopak owner Arjen Cooper-Rolfe said: “This truly amazing three-times shortlisting comes at the culmination of our 10-year mission to be the leader of our industry and the best team-driven business in the country.
“Our relentless focus on improvement has enabled us to sail through a doubling of orders during the Covid crisis. We are already snowed under with national awards for our people focus and customer service.
“But as Lloyd’s says, this is the big one.”
The Lloyds Bank National Business Awards programme is the UK’s most prestigious independent business recognition platform. The awards place particular emphasis on excellence, innovation, and ethical business.
Pandemic response brings international awards recognition
Invopak saw orders double during the Coronavirus crisis, and managed to fulfil them all despite lockdown, social distancing, and European supply chain issues.
Orders across Invopak’s industry and consumer operations went from 13,000 in April/June 2019 to 26,000 in the same quarter this year.
Invopak’s covid response won the company bronze in the 2020 International Business Awards known as the “Stevies”.
The Covid-19 category was created to honour the contributions of individuals, groups, and organizations that have worked valiantly over the past months to keep people safe, healthy, employed, and informed.
The sales boom follows a £10 million investment to create one of the industry’s most sophisticated working environments at the family-owned company’s distribution centres in Manchester, Warwickshire, Dublin, and Glasgow.
The cash injection into facilities and systems meant Invopak was the first in its industry to promise to always have its guaranteed lines in stock and ready to deliver during the pandemic.
However, the business has credited its ability to cope with soaring demand during lockdown not just to investment, but also to the company’s embedded team-working culture known internally as “Beyond Packaging”.
Company owner Arjen Cooper-Rolfe commented: “Of course the impact of the pandemic has been the catalyst, but it’s been truly remarkable that we’ve actually been able to physically make this sales increase happen. Incredible in fact.
“We’ve been able to perform even better over lockdown because of our £10 million investment in our facilities and thanks to our 10 year drive to transform the way we work together.
“We’re all reeling from what we’ve just achieved, but we are already having a discussion among every single person here about what further amazing things we can do.”
