Mindless yobs are being hunted by police after firework was put through a letterbox in Dudley.
West Midlands Police said they have received several reports that the offenders have been targeting homes in the Gornal area in recent days.
Some properties had sustained fire damaged said Mo Khan, police engagement officer for the borough.
Patrols have been beefed up and cops say they are actively looking for the suspects to prevent further incidents.
Mr Khan said: “We are currently experiencing firework offences in the Gornal and Upper Gornal area.
“There have been incidents whereby male offenders have let off fireworks directed at front doors of properties and through the letterboxes of properties resulting in fire and damage.
“The dangers of the above are clear, and we as a neighbourhood police team are working hard to identify and prevent further incidents.
“We are aware that at least two white European males were involved in letting off fireworks through a letterbox, causing fire damage to a property.
“We have increased our visible patrols in these areas and we are raising awareness within the communities.
“Extra eyes and ears looking out for the perpetrators of firework offences will help us to identify those committing them and deal with them accordingly.”
The news comes as shocking mobile phone footage captured a group of youths firing fireworks at passing cars and houses in Wolverhampton.
The clip – which can be watched above – shows one of the fireworks being directed towards the window of a property.
West Midlands Police has been contacted for further information.
