The popular Christmas ice rink at Gloucester Quays has been cancelled as a result of the pandemic.
The Ice Rink in Light is traditionally held in Gloucester Quays each Christmas near to Gloucester Docks and the decision has been made following advice and guidance from Public Health England and the Local Authority
Owen Acland, Gloucester Quays Centre Manager said: “We understand this decision is likely to be disappointing for the many people who look forward to the festivities here at Gloucester Quays. The safety of our customers remains our number one priority and we are grateful for everyone’s continued support.”
This news comes several months after Gloucester Quays announced the cancellation of the annual Victorian Christmas Market which traditionally marks the start of the festive period in Gloucester.
Plans for a Christmas ice skating rink in Cheltenham for this year have also been delayed until 2021.
However the Orchard Street Markets in Gloucester will continue as planned and will be taking place on Saturday, November 7 and Sunday, November 8 November and Saturday, December 5 and Sunday, December 6 and will play host to artisan creators from across the region.
