Asda has opened a new store in Ashby today.
It is the company’s third ‘Asda on the Move’ convenience store, and is located at the Flagstaff services site.
The store aims to give motorists the chance to shop for fresh food and essentials as they fill up with fuel.
The shop is part of a three-store trial, and follows the launch of the retailer’s first two sites earlier this month in Walsall.
All three locations are part of a trial with petrol station operator EG Group that was announced last month.
Located on the A42 at Junction 13, the shop stocks 1,500 products “from key categories including ‘food to go’, bakery and fresh chilled products, said a spokesperson.
The site also features a ToYou parcel point, allowing customers to order items via George.com, and pick up or return items to more than 100 online retailers.
The launch of the Asda On the Move trial comes after the supermarket announced the extension of its ‘test and learn’ partnerships strategy last month, which sees it align with complementary brands such as Greggs, B&Q and Uber Eats to broaden its existing customer offering.
