Everyone loved Bright Enobakhare during his memorable loan spell with Coventry City for a few short months at the end of the 2018/19 League One campaign.
The 22-year-old mercurial talent with magic in his boots today finds himself looking for yet another club after having his contract terminated by mutual consent, just one game and one goal into a three year deal at AEK Athens.
The former Wolverhampton Wanderers’ prospect only joined the Greek club in June, having had a failed spell at Wigan Athletic the season before when he opted to try his hand in the Championship rather than re-join the Sky Blues – a club he felt was like “home” during his short but sweet spell at the Ricoh Arena.
He now finds himself at a loose end, available for free and seemingly desperately in need of getting his young career back on track.
So should Mark Robins offer him a lifeline back at City?
Here’s what supporters are saying:
Lynn Hills: “No thanks.”
Nathanael: “Moral of the story, don’t chase money, chase playing time.”
Andy Ellis: “If the management think they can control him, help him mature and thus get the best out of him he’s worth a free all day long. However no deal is worth upsetting the good unity and vibe the squad has. So if they’re not sure then absolutely not.”
Brett Marshall: “Get him in.”
Keith Mallinson: “Nope, don’t need the hassle.”
Roland McAteer: “He had his chance to come to Coventry and his actions showed just how much trouble Coventry had avoided by his signing for AEK Athens, his contract with them has been terminated, for what reason?”
Lee Lishman: “See what he can do to earn a contract. But only if he can prove his worth.”
Ashley Scorer: “Nope.”
Darren Fitzpatrick: “A short term deal, absolutely would. Plenty of good players have had rough spells in their careers. Fully fit and firing on all cylinders and he’d be a major asset. It’s just a case of whether he wants it himself.”
Christopher Dennis: “We’ve got better than him now. We’ve moved on, and he quite clearly had no respect for the club rules and expectations on him as a player. We don’t need that of attitude among the group.”
Simon Lawton: “He would be a great asset on a free….but not on a bonkers salary.”
James Bannon: “Short term contract and see how it goes.”
