Fans of fish and chips can enjoy a tasty meal for less this month at the Market Harborough branch of award-winning chippy The Cod’s Scallops.
To celebrate the first birthday of the Leicestershire restaurant, in Abbey Street, The Cod’s Scallops is giving a 20 per cent discount on all food, all day, every day during October.
The offer applies to eat-in only and excludes drinks.
The Cod’s Scallops opened last year in the former Meatcure unit in Abbey Street.
It became the fourth branch of The Cod’s Scallops, which also has sites in Wollaton, Sherwood and Long Eaton.
The Cod’s Scallops was started in 2011 by John Molnar, who used his 30 years of experience to “set sail a fish and chip concept like no other.”
The brand’s commitment to serving “the freshest seafood in town” has earned it a number of awards, including the Wollaton shop being named one of the top 10 fish and chip shops in the UK at the National Fish and Chip Awards 2020.
Customers can choose from more than 20 different types of fish and seafood, all cooked fresh to order.
The choice ranges from traditional cod and haddock to lobsters, dressed Cromer crabs, Colchester oysters, scallops and mussels from the Shetland Isles.
Fish is available deep fried in traditional beef dripping, barbecue spiced or baked with garlic, lemon and herbs.
The company makes its own award-winning pies, with fillings including steak and scale ale, chicken, ham and leek, fish pie or vegan Balti.
A range of light bites and sides are available, including black pudding fritters, battered onion rings, and pickled onions, eggs and gherkins.

Puddings include strawberry and cream cheesecake pud pot, seasonal fruit crumble with custard, and warm sticky toffee pudding with toffee sauce.
There is a children’s menu – or rather ‘Little Tiddlers’ menu – which includes mini cod and chips, proper fish fingers and chips, chicken nuggets and chips and sausages and chips.
The Cod’s Scallops in Market Harborough is open 11.30am – 9pm Monday to Thursday, and 11.30am – 9.30pm Friday and Saturday.
