Attacking midfielder Emi Buendia, the Norwich City player who has been linked with Aston Villa this summer, is being targeted by Turkish side Fenerbahce before Monday’s transfer deadline.

Canaries midfielder Buendia made a big impact in a struggling side in the Premier League last season, and following the club’s relegation back to the Championship at the first time of asking his future has inevitably come under the spotlight.

Villa and Leeds United are among the top flight clubs who have been named as potential suitors for Buendia after his impressive displays last term. Leeds have since turned their attentions to Buendia’s teammate Todd Cantwell.

Now Buendia, keen on another crack at England’s top tier, is wanted in the Turkish Super Lig by Fenerbahce, who are considering a loan offer accompanied by a fee. Norwich reportedly want £20m for Buendia.

He won’t be someone who kicks up a fuss at Carrow Road, for he has a very positive working relationship with the club’s hierarchy, but Buendia did outline his ambition to return to the ‘best league in the world’.

“Until the day I leave the club I will fight for them. I’m thinking about playing well and helping the team. My head is here,” Buendia told the Press Association.

“I see clubs are interested in me. I love to hear that because it means Premier League teams want to get me in their team. I’m happy with that.

“I’m happy to feel the pressure and to feel important. I’ve played here for two years and I feel like an experienced player in the team. I feel important because my team-mates give me that feeling.

“They know how I like to play, I’m feeling good within my role. I am still here, but if a very good offer arrives for me they’re open. We’ll decide what’s best for everyone.

“From the first day I’ve been happy with my relationship with them. They know my situation and they know my dream is to be in a Premier League team.

“Me and my family have loved this city since we arrived but I want to play in the best league in the world and would like to stay in a Premier League team.”

Villa have signed Emi Martinez, Matty Cash, Ollie Watkins and Bertrand Traore this window, and have also added Ross Barkley on loan from Chelsea.
