Room for one more?

Coventry City boss Mark Robins has been extremely active in the summer transfer market, recruiting ten new players to date.

And with the window set to stay open until the middle of next month, there’s still plenty more time for movement in and out of the club.

The transfer window is due to close on October 5 but Premier League and EFL clubs will still be able to get deals done as part of a domestic-only window from October 5-16.

That window will close on Friday, October 16 at 5pm.

Here we look at the business already done by the Sky Blues, who are looking to compete back in the Championship for the first time in eight long years, assess the prospect of more new recruits and take a look at who could be going through the exit door.

O’Hare reveals secret of team spirit

Coventry City favourite Callum O’Hare was delighted to get off the mark in the Championship with a goal and a win against QPR.

The 22-year-old looks right at home in the second tier after joining the Sky Blues on a permanent deal from Aston Villa this summer, following up his impressive season-long loan in League One.

And he’s convinced the squad has the same winning mentality and team spirit that helped them gain promotion last term.

“I have really enjoyed the tempo at this level, which is a bit quicker than League One and the players are a little bit better,” he said.

Boris confirms huge blow to fans

Prime Minister Boris Johnson has confirmed that football fans will not return from October 1 after announcing new lockdown measures in the wake of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

It had been hoped that Sky Blues fans and supporters of other clubs up and down the country could return to limited-capacity football stadiums from the start of next month, with grounds being 25 to 33% full.

However, tighter restrictions due to a spike in Covid-19 cases have resulted in those plans being pushed back – potentially by six months.

That would mean matches continuing to be played behind closed doors until March, at least, unless “significant progress” is made.

Fadz feels benefit of no 12th man

The Sky Blue Army, along with football supporters up and down the country, were dealt a huge blow today with the news that a pilot scheme for the return of fans to stadiums is being put on hold amid growing fears of a second spike of COVID-19.

Coventry City star Kyle McFadzean can’t wait to see fans back at football matches, knowing the value of having supporters cheering them to victory.

But Friday night’s match winner believes it could actually play into their hands in the short-term on the pitch as they adjust to Championship life.

The facts are that as vocal as City’s incredible fans are in getting behind their team, home and away, Mark Robins’s men have some big grounds to visit this season.
