A man has been charged with the murder of a Birmingham dad after he died from a gunshot wound.
Murtaza Nazir, 26, suffered fatal injuries in Bagshaw Road, Stechford on August 28.
West Midlands Police said they have charged Shamraz Khan, 22 from Poppy Grove, Saltley, with Mr Nazir’s murder. He was due to appear at Birmingham Magistrates’ Court later today (September 18).
Two women, aged 22 and 49, who were arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender, have been released on police bail while inquiries continue, police said.
Police said Mr Nazir’s family have been informed of the latest development and are being supported by specialist officers as they continue to grieve their loss.
Detective Chief Inspector Scott Griffiths, from the force’s homicide unit, said: “We are still looking for others we believe were involved in the shooting on Bagshaw Road on the evening of Friday 28 August. Please contact us if you have any information in relation to the incident that will help us get justice for Murtaza’s family.”
Mr Nazir’s devastated family have previously paid tribute to him saying that “our lives shattered and hearts broken.”
“As a family we are united and trying to heal, but the process won’t be an easy one,” their statement said.
“As a family not only have we lost a father, husband, son, brother, we have lost our friend and protector.
“Everyone who knew him will have their own unique memory with him, and that, in these hard times will get them through it.”
