AN eagle and two birdies on the front nine holes paved the way for Tim Wyatt to win Ross Golf Club’s annual Winston Wildsmith Salver stableford competition.

Members from all sections of the club competed for honours board recognition with 136 entrants taking part.

For five handicapper Wyatt it provided the ideal opportunity for him to roll back the years and recall memories of when he last won the competition in 2012.

He completed his front nine holes in three under gross par and a massive 23 stableford points haul.

Another birdie followed by a strong finish resulted in Wyatt’s 42 points winning total which saw him record a one under gross 71 medal round and a handicap reduction to four.

Wyatt was pushed all the way by a teenager in Tom Northcott.

The youngster’s 41 points total made him runner-up after recovering from a nightmare start with just one point after two holes. Interestingly, in third place was seven handicapper James Hay with 39 points enabling him to reflect on again coming so close, as he did when he finished runner-up to Wyatt in the Salver event in 2012.
