BROCKHAMPTON women’s cricket team had a Bank Holiday weekend to remember with back to back victories.

The first game of their long weekend was against Charlton Kings.

After winning the toss Brockhampton put Charlton Kings in to bat.

Their opposition had a steady start building their innings to a good total of 175 off 30 overs with the loss of five wickets.

The highlight was their number three bat Millie Ashford hitting 84 not out.

In reply Brockhampton got off to a fantastic start with an opening partnership of 144 from Chloe Tingle and Amy Maund.

Maund was first to go caught on 71. Tingle then went on to hit 53 runs before she was bowled out. Brockhampton had a mini collapse loosing four quick wickets in three overs.

Captain Harriet Shuker then took back control and hit 19 runs off 12 balls to secure the win with three overs to spare. The second game on Bank Holiday Monday was against Gloucester under-15 county development side.

Brockhampton again won the toss and put the opposition in to bat.

Brockhampton’s tight fielding and excellent bowling restricted Gloucester to 105 runs with a loss of nine wickets off their 30 overs.

The highlight being 12-year-old Stripey Hughes taking a hat-trick in her first over.

In reply Brockhampton’s same opener’s performed well again with 45 on the board before the loss of their only wicket.

Tingle hit 33 while Maund ended on 39 not out and Lisette Bardon finished on 28no. Both matches were played in a friendly competitive manner with the opportunity for some younger girls to gain experience.
