Coventry City have unveiled their new home kit as they prepare for their return to the Championship.
Mark Robins’ men will wear it for the first time this Saturday, when they face Peterborough United in back-to-back friendlies.
And they do not have long to wait to wear it in competitive action, with the 2020/21 campaign fast approaching.
The new shirt takes inspiration from the Sky Blues’ home kit of the early 1990s and will bring back memories of the Premier League, Peter Ndlovu and Micky Quinn for supporters.
Completely bespoke to Coventry, it is the second retro strip Hummel have provided the club with in two seasons.
Unveiling the kit, the club said: “The home shirt is completely bespoke to Coventry City, after the club has worked closely with Hummel on the kit again to create a design which is expected to be hugely popular with Sky Blues supporters.
“The shirt takes inspiration from the home shirt worn by Coventry City in the first two years of the Premier League, with a new modern take on the distinctive design of the time on the bottom half of the front of the shirt. This is faded into from the top half of the shirt which is solid Sky Blue.
“Again, the famous Hummel chevrons feature prominently on the sleeves, while distinctive touches include CCFC slogans and branding – including the words ‘Sky Blue Army’ on the inside back of the shirt, ‘PUSB’ on the trim and the elephant from the club crest on the rear of the shirt along with the accompanying motto ‘We Are Strong’ on the inside rear of the shirt.
“Coventry City’s new sponsor BoyleSports adorns the front of the shirt too and is in keeping with the overall design of the kit. The BoyleSports logo will be on all retail shirts, except for Junior and Infant sizes.
“Meanwhile #PUSB is included on the cord of the shorts, adding further to the incredible detail of the kit and the bespoke nature of the Sky Blues design for the season ahead.”
