Cheltenham Town Ladies have signed former Aston Villa development forward Jade Grove ahead of the new Women’s National League campaign.
The Evesham-based 19-year-old has also previously been on the books of West Bromwich Albion and Birmingham & West Midlands.
She now links up with the Robins, who have also signed ex-Swindon Town midfielder Ruby Scahill this week as new head coach Tom Davies rebuilds his squad.
“After Tom contacted me to tell me his plans for the season, I was keen to go down for pre-season to see how it went,” Grove said.
“With such a welcoming team and a positive atmosphere it’s made me feel like I’ve made the right decision moving to a more local club.”
Grove, a second year sport and exercise student at Hartpury University, has enjoyed the early pre-season sessions with her new club.
“We’ve been put through our paces with the fitness work, where we’ve all seen huge improvements,” she said.
“This is a key development area for me, so it’s hugely helped me as a player.”
Alongside her studies, Grove plays for Hartpury’s futsal team, who narrowly missed out on promotion to the National League this year.
She is now hoping to hit the ground running at Cheltenham, who play West Brom at home in a friendly on Sunday afternoon (2pm), with restricted attendance in place as per FA and government guidelines.
“My aims for the season are to enjoy the game whilst creating and scoring goals for the team,” Grove said.
“As a team we want to win as many games as we can and finish as high as possible in the table.
“I’m excited to join a new club and to see what the season brings.”
The new season Women’s National League South West Division One season starts on Sunday, September 20.
