Anticipation is building about a vehicle being billed as a rival to the Land Rover Defender – the Ineos Grenadier.
And the company behind it – Ineos Automotive – is looking to fill a number of roles right now.
Although it is billed as a Defender rival the Grenadier is actually a very different vehicle to the new Land Rover Defender.
Instead it is aiming to be the spiritual successor to the old Land Rover Defender.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe, the man behind the Grenadier project, has very deep pockets and is an avowed fan of the old Defender.
Sir Jim, who is a graduate of the University of Birmingham and who started his engineering career in Coventry, founded energy and chemical giant Ineos, which is estimated to be worth in the region of £3.2billion.
A renowned Defender enthusiast, he announced the project in February 2017.
At the beginning of July the wraps came off the Grenadier for the first time.
The rugged off-roader was due to be produced at a new factory at Bridgend in Wales and a manufacturing facility in Portugal.
However, Ineos Automotive is now reviewing its manufacturing operations and could produce the Grenadier at a former Mercedes-Benz factory in France.
As part of the project Ineos Automotive has several vacancies to fill.
Some are in Germany but there are many at its offices in Knightsbridge, London.
In the recruitment section of its website Ineos Automotive says: “It’s a big task to launch a best-in-class 4×4 for those who depend on a vehicle as a working tool, and it’s our responsibility to do the best job possible.
“We’re building the Grenadier from the ground up, component by component. No corners cut and no easy options.”
It adds: “To make this vision a reality, we’ve assembled a team of world-class experts who are willing to roll up their sleeves and get stuck in.
“We need more doers that think big. More thinkers that dive in and do. More people that make things happen.
“We’re a diverse workforce of tenacious, straight-talking experts with engineering at our core. “We’re growing our world-class team and looking for spirited innovators and disruptors – those who thrive on a gritty challenge and will work through adversity in the pursuit of success. We’re doing things differently.
“If this sounds like you, let’s talk.”
