A nine-year-old mountain biker from Witcombe has been doing some unimaginable things on his bike.
Henry Ruskin from Witcombe isn’t even in secondary school yet but that hasn’t stopped him from landing some incredible jumps on his mountain bike all while making a name for himself in the world of mountain biking.
Henry has a large following on social media and in one of his latest posts he demonstrated his talent when he landed a jump that was 47 feet something his dad Simon says no any other children his age are doing.
Talking about how it all began, Simon said: “He started riding officially at the age of about five and a half. We set up the 417 Bike Park and when we first got it he couldn’t ride and then he had a friend round who taught him to ride.
“We haven’t given him any coaching and he got quite good and it got to the point where he was riding with the teens and it just went form there really.”
He went on to say: “I go to France every year mountain biking in the Alps and I just decided two years ago when he was seven to take him and there is a large 40 foot jump where there have been lots of crashes and injuries and I let him go and he managed to clear it.
“Some of the stuff he’s doing here is huge. I have to be careful that I don’t sound like a biased parent but I don’t know of any other children that can do it.”
And it doesn’t seem like he plans on slowing down any time soon.
Simon explained: “His aim is that he wants to go further in the sport.
“He’s heading in the right direction. There are different types of mountain biking but he wants to do free jumps. He’s never happier than when he’s in the air.
“He’s really well supported, his social media is really growing. He’s just starting to be picked up now and he’s got some fairly high name sponsors such as Fox which is a big clothing company, Propane Bikes, Hello Blue for graphics, tyre sponsor V Tyres and D&D airbags.”
