A new seven-day beach festival is coming to Leicestershire this summer, with an array of fun activities on offer.
Harborough BeachFest will take place at Market Harborough Showground from Tuesday, August 25 to Monday, August 31, and will feature a giant beach with deckchairs, fairground rides, a live dinosaur show, fireworks and more.
The BeachFest is being organised by event company Fleckney Group, which is also holding a drive-in cinema event at the same venue this month.
From Tuesday, August 25 to Friday, August 28 between 2pm and 7pm, visitors to the BeachFest will be able to enjoy the beach, a pop-up cafe and bar, fairground rides including Kidz Kingdom Fun Park, a live dinosaur show and donkeys.
Weekday prices are £2 for adults and free for children (under 16) per day.
From Saturday, August 29, to Monday, August 31, you’ll be able to enjoy all of the weekday activities, plus a summer market, live music and a spectacular fireworks display.
Musicians set to perform over the weekend include 80s themed band We Tried Kylie, Ministry of Soul performing Motown and Soul hits, Hard Lines – a four piece blues rock band, Matilda Pratt – a singer-songwriter from the West Midlands who puts her own spin on covers and also does her original music, and Georgia Lily who is a cover artist for tracks throughout the years from the 60’s to present day.
Saturday, Sunday and Monday will all end with a spectacular firework show timed to music at 9.30pm.
The weekend price is £5 for adults and free for children (under 16) per day.
There is also a weekend pass available, which gives you access throughout the whole bank holiday weekend for £10 per adult.
An exclusive deck chair seating area is available for £10 per chair for the whole day, guaranteeing you a seat for the live music and fireworks display.
The event will raise money for Marie Curie, with 10 per cent of ticket sales going to the charity.
Fleckney Group is working with Harborough District Council and other authorities to ensure this event is Covid-19 safe.
Procedures in place will include temperature testing upon site entry, sanitiser stations, heightened cleaning regimes, ample space for social distancing and track and trace.
