A Leicestershire venue usually only open for weddings and events is giving customers the rare opportunity to dine or drink in a tipi, whilst taking in the beautiful views of surrounding countryside.
Bridge House Barn at Kibworth Harcourt has been hit hard by the effect of the coronavirus pandemic, with most of this year’s wedding bookings postponed until 2021.
However, owner Emma Tilley came up with the brilliant idea to temporarily transform the waterfront venue into a pop-up tipi pub.
Emma said: “This is a one-time opportunity to come and dine and drink in a stunning waterfront location, or in the magical tipis, normally exclusively used for weddings and events.
“This will never happen again. Our weekends are all booked for the next two years for weddings and special events.”
During August and September, it is open for drinks on Fridays from 5pm and Saturdays evenings from 12.30pm. It is open on Sundays for lunches from 12pm – for which booking is required.
A one-off afternoon tea will also be taking place on Saturday, August 22 from 12pm, for which booking is also required.
Food is provided by Zest Catering, and the Sunday lunch menu will change each week. It costs £18.50 for two courses and £21.00 for three courses. The price for children is £7.50 for two courses and £10 for three courses.
Sittings are at 12pm-2pm, 2.30pm-4.30pm and 5pm-7pm.
There are 12 socially distanced tables in the tipis, and about 20 outside the tipis and on the decking area around the bar.
Measures have been introduced to ensure the venue is Covid-safe. This includes taking customer details for the track and trace book, a one-way system through the outdoor bar for service, with no standing or drinking at the bar allowed.
Guests need to remain at their tables as much as possible, and will be required to use hand sanitiser on entry and exit to the toilets and bar area.
Bridge House Barn is located close to Wistow, in rolling Leicestershire countryside, adjacent to the Grand Union Canal, with no other property in sight.
The wedding venue has developed over the last five years. It now has 10 guest rooms and four tipis to seat 160 people, with an outside covered bar and waterfront decking and patio seating area.
