The Cotswolds are no strangers to a celeb or two – including the Beckhams.
And now the famous family have been given the go-ahead to build a lake at their Chipping Norton home.
David and Victoria Beckham plan to build a four metre deep pond with an approximate surface area of almost 3,000 square metres – just under half the size of a football pitch. Their home already boasts a tennis court and a tree house.
A planning application for the ‘kidney-shaped’ pond was submitted in June and has now been authorised by West Oxfordshire District Council.
According to the application, the pond will be designed ‘to look like a natural water feature’ and ‘will not be visible from any neighbouring properties.’
In CGI images which have been included in the application, the pond seems to be located towards the back of the Beckhams’ property which also features a tennis court.
As part of the construction the District Council have said that the Beckhams will have to include plans for a hibernacula – a shelter for animals in overwinter.
Other elements that have to be implemented as part of the applications approval include ‘planting and infilling of hedgerows using native species’ as well as a ‘five-year maintenance plan.’
