Leicester City have been linked with Kosovo international striker Vedat Muriqi.
The Foxes are said to be joined by Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, West Bromwich Albion and others in their interest in the Fenerbahce forward.
But who is Muriqi? What are his qualities and what is his record?
Let’s take a closer look…
Name: Vedat Muriqi
Current Club: Fenerbahçe
Vedat started his career in his native Kosovo, working his way up through the ranks at Klubi Futbollistik Liria, earning a first-team place before moving on to Albanian side KF Teuta. A short spell in Albania led to a fruitful move to Turkey.
In 2014, Muriqi moved to Giresunspor before moving on to Gençlerbirliği. Muriqi initially found life in the Super Lig tough, and a transfer to Çaykur Rizespor followed in 2018.
At Rizespor, Muriqi performed well in top division and earned a move to Fenerbahçe.
By the numbers
The forward has scored 37 Süper Lig goals and provided 14 assists over the past two seasons for Rizespor and Fenerbahçe in 112 appearances.
This season, he has 17 goals in all competitions, plus seven assists.
Muriqi has been capped 23 times by the Kosovo national time, scoring eight goals, including a penalty in a Euro qualifier against England.
He is said to be valued at around 20million euros (or just over £18million).
His current contract is reported to run until the summer of 2023.
Muriqi can hold up the ball well – battling defenders and midfielders to retain stationary possession to bring others into play, with solid teamwork skills.
He’s an accurate, smart striker, and one who is able to score on the floor and in the air. He’s also got a burst of pace and is active in all phases of an attack.
In Turkey, he has been a threat, and has clearly been able to adapt to different playing styles. For Kosovo, he is a wide-threat when needed, and for his current side, Fenerbahçe – he’s a bit of an all-rounder.
