A trio of tourism businesses in Leicestershire have been selected as some of the best in the country.
The three have reached the finals of the VisitEngland National Awards for Excellence 2020.
John’s House in Mountsorrel – the only Leicestershire restaurant to hold a Michelin Star – is a finalist in the ‘Taste of England’ award.
College Court in Leicester is a finalist in the Business Events Venue category.
Eye Kettleby Lakes, near Melton, has reached the final of the Camping, Glamping and Holidays Park of the year category.
The three venues were nominated by tourism specialists, Leicestershire Promotions, following their own regional awards last November.
Martin Peters, CEO of Leicestershire Promotions said: “We take pride in the rigour and care we apply to our regional awards. To have three finalists announced for the national awards is brilliant news.
“This is a great success for Leicestershire, our tourism industry and Leicestershire Promotions, and comes as a real boost as we all fight hard to recover our industry from the dreadful impact of the pandemic. They are all winners in our eyes.”
VisitEngland chief executive Sally Balcombe, said: “These awards celebrate businesses and individuals in tourism across England who have exceeded expectations and delivered excellence during the last 18 months and it is fantastic to see such an outstanding list of finalists.
“Millions of jobs and local economies depend on tourism and this year’s awards are also a timely opportunity to acknowledge the determination and dedication of tourism businesses across the country who have worked extremely hard to reopen and welcome visitors back safely.”
The 2020 VisitEngland Awards for Excellence event will be streamed live at www.visitengland.org and on YouTube channel: VisitEnglandBiz on August 17 from 7pm until 9pm.
