Ben Chilwell will reportedly tell Leicester City he wants to quit the club this week in order to seal a big-money move to Chelsea this summer.
The Daily Mirror says that the highly-rated left-back is ready to call it a day at the Foxes ending his 11-year association with the club.
Chelsea are eager to sign Chilwell this summer as they look to launch an assault on the Premier League title and the Champions League next season.
The Mirror claims that Chilwell’s decision is not just a result of the club missing out on a top-four finish on Sunday when they were beaten by Manchester United on the final day.
But it’s more a reflection of where Chilwell sees himself playing for the next five to six years.
Chelsea boss Frank Lampard is a huge admirer of the defender, but Leicester will fight hard to keep one their prized assets.
They are under no pressure to sell given the wealth of their owners and boss Brendan Rodgers is said to be relaxed about the future of his star defender.
Chilwell, who has been recovering from a foot injury, is also eager to become an England regular having won 11 caps so far.
The news comes as James Maddison, one of the club’s star talents, is expected to put pen to paper on a four-year deal worth more than £100k-a-week.
