The Fosse Park branch of Carphone Warehouse has closed for good, owner Dixons Carphone has confirmed to LeicestershireLive.
Dixons Carphone – which was founded in 2014 through the merger of Dixons Retail and Carphone Warehouse – announced in March this year that it planned to close all 531 of its standalone Carphone Warehouse stores.
The company said at the time that it would focus on selling mobile devices and connectivity through its shop-in-shops in 305 big Currys PCWorld stores and online.
Dixons Carphone said it expected 1,800 colleagues affected by the store closures to take new roles internally, but said there would be 2,900 redundancies.
Talking about the closure of the Fosse Park store, a spokesperson for Dixons Carphone told LeicestershireLive:
“I can confirm that the Fosse Park Carphone Warehouse store has closed in line with the announcement we made in March on the closure of our smaller standalone Carphone Warehouse stores in the UK as part of our mobile transformation.

“However, there is still a Carphone Warehouse store within our Currys PC World store at Fosse Park shopping centre which is open and available to customers.”
The Fosse Park Carphone Warehouse store is now available to let, through retail property advisors CWM Out of Town.
