POLICE have reassured Evesham residents after there was a large police presence, including armed officers, in the town on Friday night.

West Mercia Police have released a statement explaining they were attending to reports of a concern for man’s welfare, when they were in the Burford Road area at about 7.30pm.

Inspector Fergus Green said: “I would like to reassure the public that the armed officers and other policing units that will have been seen around the Burford Road area of Evesham were responding to reports of a concern for man’s welfare.

“I am pleased to say that the situation has been resolved without incident and the report fully investigated.”

He added that high visibility patrols remained in the area after the incident to provide community reassurance.
