The body of a woman has been discovered at a Melton Mowbray beauty spot just hours after being reported missing.
According to police, the female, who is her 40s, was found in woodland at Eye Kettleby Lakes, a family-run fishing centre just south of Melton.
She was discovered by officers this afternoon having been reported missing at 11.20am today.
Officers say there were no suspicious circumstances.
Several police vehicles and an ambulance were at the location and a cordon was put up around the area while the body was recovered.
The police have not identified the woman and the circumstances of her death will be the subject of an inquest at a future date.
Leicestershire Police said in a statement: “The body of a woman reported as a missing person has been found.
“At about 11.20am today a woman in her 40s was reported missing from an area near Eye Kettleby, Leicestershire.
“Officers carried out a search of the area and the missing woman was located nearby.
“She was pronounced dead at the scene.
“There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death and a file is being prepared for the coroner.”
