McVitie’s has finally revealed the answer to one of life’s age-old questions: does the chocolate on a digestive sit at the bottom or top?

The chocolate giant, which is responsible for iconic biscuits ranging from Rich Tea to milk chocolate digestives, spoke out on social media.

McVitie’s sells digestives in milk and dark chocolate varieties, with other alternatives also available.

But one question has always been whether the chocolate is carried on the top or bottom of the biscuit – and now McVitie’s has spoken out.

“Any chance you could clear something up to close a little disagreement with my friends. Is the chocolate side of a digestive biscuit the top or bottom?? Thanks in advance” one McVitie’s fan asked the biscuit giant.

“Our Digestives go through a reservoir of chocolate, so it’s on the bottom!” McVitie’s responded.

One replied: “How knowone didn’t know you put the chocolate on your tongue amuses me, so am I the only one who was doing it right for the last 30 odd years lmao”

But one disagreed, writing: “BLASPHEMY!”

“When you eat it this way you don’t get any crumbs, meaning more biscuits consumed,” another countered, though.

“Every day is a school day,” admitted another, but another shot back at McVities, telling them their reveal was “wrong.”

When another commented saying their “mind was blown” by the revelation, one fan wrote to McVitie’s revealing her significant other’s bizarre trait.

“He butters Jacobs crackers on the “flat” side. While this makes huge sense it really freaks me out…” she admitted.

But another commented to McVities over their use of the word ‘reservoir’, admitting: “This reservoir you speak of… I want to swim in it!”

You and us both.
