Wolverhampton Wanderers could cut their deficit on Chelsea to just five points against Everton on Sunday.
Wolves slipped below the Blades into seventh place on Saturday after Chris Wilder’s men beat Chelsea 3-0 at Bramall Lane courtesy of goals from David McGoldrick either side of Oli McBurnie’s first-half strike.
But the manner of Chelsea’s defeat was a source of encouragement for Wolves fans ahead of the run-in to decide Champions League and Europa League qualification.

Frank Lampard’s side face Manchester United then Premier League champions Liverpool before hosting Wolves in a crunch clash on the final weekend of the domestic season.
One Wolves fan said on social media: “I think result proves a couple of things. It should but some perspective on our game as we matches a good Sheff Utd team when playing poorly and Chelsea are still catchable. Massive game tomorrow must win but would also like to see a much improved performance.”
“We’ll see who’s laughing when #wwfc pip Chelsea on the final day,” said another.
A third pointed out: “Everyone looking negatively at the Sheffield United score? with Chelsea losing, and say we win tomorrow, we are five off Chelsea. They still play Liverpool and us last game.”
“Must win, hopefully we can actually get moving,” added another supporter.
