Today marks the first day that pubs and restaurants in Cheltenham can reopen after being closed for months including one of the town’s Wetherspoons: The Bank House.
It seemed that some people couldn’t wait to get their hands on a pint or just to simply return to their local as a number of people were already filling tables in The Bank House in Clarence Street before 11am.
But the venue may seem a little different to how they remember it.
Social distancing stickers were on the floor in what is normally the smoking area.
Signs have also been put up outside the venue letting customers know that there is a maximum capacity of nine in the smoking area – despite that being just outside the venue.
However some things still seemed the same with door staff present outside the venue and inside staff could be seen trying to clear tables and collect glasses while remaining a safe distance away from staff.
Despite the Government’s late announcement that pubs could reopen from 6am today, many pubs in the town remained closed, preferring to open until later on in the day.
While there are some venues in Cheltenham, such as Tailors, who have decided to postpone their reopening date until they are able to do it safely.
