CHILDREN have made colourful posters to welcome Oscar Saxelby-Lee home after eight months of receiving life-saving cancer treatment abroad.

The six-year-old had a warm welcome home when he returned to Worcester from Singapore on Friday, June 26.

The boy, from St John’s, made a surprise appearance to see his classmates at Pitmaston Primary School on his way home from the airport.

Year 6 children at the school, in Malvern Road, have designed posters for their classmate.

Mum Emma Pearson also submitted a photo of the poster her daughter, Sienna, made.

She said Sienna is in Oscar’s class at school and has “missed Oscar very much.”

The designed posters comes after the Worcester News launched an appeal for the public to create poster or card.

Thank you to everyone who has taken part and sent in photos of the their posters.

Oscar, along with his parents Olivia Saxelby and Jamie Lee, travelled to Singapore while the youngster successfully underwent lifesaving CAR-T therapy and a second bone marrow transplant.

He is only the second child in the world to have received the specialist treatment, which was paid for through a huge crowdfunding appeal which raised £600,000 for his treatment, and a further £113,000 for the Grace Kelly Childhood Cancer Trust.
