A SEX offender who was described as a “dangerous” woman-hater was jailed for 15 years four years ago.

Paul Biddle, from Worcester, who has a history of violence towards women, was jailed for two counts of rape.

Biddle was said by a judge at Worcester Crown Court to have a “deep hatred and mistrust” of women.

The evil 38-year-old was jailed previously in 2012 for harassment and common assault of an ex-partner after he broke her jaw.

He was given a five-year ASBO in 2014 forbidding him from any further harassment or violence towards women but he ignored the order.

Biddle was convicted on March 17, 2016 after an eight-day trial at Hereford Crown Court.

When the jury gave their verdicts, Biddle shouted and swore at them and had to be taken to the cells by officers.

Kassan Siva prosecuting, said Biddle raped the woman, who was said to be mentally vulnerable, on two occasions when he lived in Worcester.

He also hit her, mainly in the arms and legs so the bruising did not show.

He moved to a caravan in Broadwas where he carried out further offences of violence against the woman in a “reign of terror” with abusive, controlling and manipulative behaviour.

He was cleared of one charge of rape but found guilty of two others and also guilty of two charges of breaching the ASBO.

Mr Siva told the court Biddle had 21 previous convictions for 50 offences, many of them for violence against women.

It was heard in court that Biddle could not read or write and had a very low IQ.

He continued to deny that he had raped the woman and said the sex had been consensual because he did not understand what she had been telling him.Biddl

Biddle was from a large family but had been shunned completely by them and had no-one in court with him either for the trial or the sentencing.

Recorder Macadam said Biddle used violence towards women as a tool to make sure they do as they are told.

He said: “”He has a deep seated hatred and mistrust of women which means he is a very real danger to them.

“He is a significant risk and he is a dangerous offender.”

He said Biddle’s outburst at the end of a very distressing trial for the jury would attract an additional sentence for contempt of court.

Biddle was given nine years concurrent for each of the rape charges and a further two years for breaching the ASBO.

An extra four years extended licence was added because of the dangerousness element and three months for contempt of court, making a total sentence of 15 years and three months.

He was also added on the sex offenders register for life.

Police later praised the victim’s courage, as Superintendent Kevin Purcell of West Mercia Police said: “We would like to pay tribute to the courage of the victim and praise her support to our investigations.

“Paul Biddle has caused a great deal of suffering and he now faces a significant amount of time in prison for his actions.

“I would like to commend the dedication of the officers who worked to bring Biddle to justice and I would also like to reiterate that we will always support the victims of sexual offences and will always be here for them.”

In October 2013, Biddle featured in the Worcester News after being jailed for 18 months and given a five-year anti-social behaviour order.

He pleaded guilty to harassment and common assault of an ex-partner while he was serving a prison sentence of four years for causing grievous bodily harm to an ex-partner in 2007.

While he was imprisoned in Hewell near Redditch in 2012 prison officers became aware he was harassing another ex-partner by phone.

He was reported to have been threatening to kill or assault her when he was released, encouraging her to commit suicide and insulting her.

Between October 29 and December 10 in 2012, he made 519 telephone calls lasting more than 1,000 minutes to the same woman.

When the woman visited him in prison on November 21 prison officers saw her hold out her hands when he told her, after which Biddle pushed his thumbnail into her palm so hard it bled.

He claimed she had cut it on a drinks can.
