Armed burglars broke into a family home in Wolverhampton while two young children were asleep.

Wielding a claw-hammer, the men raided a flat in Trysull Road in the early hours of the morning on May 28.

One of the home occupiers was awoken by the sound of intruders combing through the property and confronted them.

The men were stopped in their tracks and fled the scene empty-handed.

Two young children were asleep at the time of the attempted burglary and thankfully avoided what police have described as a “shocking experience”.

Officers have released a grainy black and white CCTV image of a man they want to speak to in connection with the incident.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: “We know this isn’t the clearest CCTV image but we’re hoping someone may be able to help us identify this burglar.

“He is one of two men who forced open the door to a flat in Trysull Road, Wolverhampton, with a claw hammer in the early hours of May 28, while a family slept inside.

“The men ran off after being confronted by the occupant and nothing was stolen.

“Two young children were asleep in bed at the time. Thankfully they didn’t see the intruders but clearly this would have been a shocking experience for the youngsters.

“We need to find this man. If anyone thinks they may recognise him, or has any information about the break-in, please contact us.”
